Board Says “Thanks, But No Thanks”

By unanimous vote, the Page County Board of Supervisors decided to send a letter to Fibrowatt company thanking them for their informational effort, but telling them there was not a place for them in Page County.

Many of the 200+ people that crowded into the Stanley Elementary School wore lapel stickers that said “I love Page County.  Hear my voice.”

Others studiously and solemnly read over a letter which had been sent to each Board member just on March 12.  The letter, from the Shenandoah Valley Partnership, was signed by Robin Sullenberger.   On the Board of Directors of SVP, however we find some familiar names:   David Tong and Tom Cardman.

The letter advised the Page County Board against passing a resolution banning chicken litter incinerators, because it might be perceived as being unfriendly to business.

Congratulations, thoughtful citizens of Page County. You’ve won a great victory for your children and theirs. Thank you for your diligence and careful consideration, members of the Board of Supervisors.

  2. Morgan says:

I don’t live in Page yet, but I’m currently looking to relocate, and this is certainly a good development. Thanks to all the hard working citizens that spoke against the proposal. And thanks to the Board of Supervisors for listening to their voices.

  3. When is the BOS going to cancel Cardman contract. He acts as if he is the one in charge of running the county. My money saids that Tong never starts his business.

  4. Alice Richmond says:

Phil, David Tong will never, never, never build a data center. Anybody with two brain cells to rub together could see that.

  5. Don Mattingly says:

Does anyone have a PDF of the letter that the SVP sent to the BOS?
